Autoblogging may not be the profit goldmine you believe!

10 steps to Niche Marketing success with WordPress Autoblogs

There are tons of people on the Internet struggling to make money online with autoblogging using WordPress, Clickbank and Google Adsense. The good news: It IS possible! The bad news: Most people will fail. Here are ten steps to certain success with autoblogs.

  1. Choose a profitable market niche:  Don’t take a shortcut with choosing your niche market. Much of your success will depend on choosing a niche with a lot of traffic but a minimum of competition. You can use Google’s own keyword tool or use a commercial product like Keyword Winner to ensure your success.
  2. Get a domain name: We have written elsewhere about how to go about getting your own domain name(s). Some will recommend that you install each autoblog on its own domain, but to start out, you want to make money rather than spend it, so we suggest that you purchase a single, short, generic-sounding domain name and put each autoblog on a separate subdomain.
  3. Set up your first blog:  There are many blogging platforms out there that you could use. However, since WordPress is the most popular and best supported, this is the system of choice. You can get a FREE WordPress account at WordPress.com but there will be some limitations on what you can do. We recommend using a domain hosting account that specializes in WordPress accounts like HostGator or similar.
  4. Pick one or more Clickbank affiliate offers closely related to your Niche:  Some autobloggers will rely principally on Google Adsense to monetize their site. This is very limiting. Instead, we recommend that you use Clickbank Marketplace to find one or more affiliate offers that tie in with your Market Niche. You will discover in step six below how to automatically add smartlinks to to your posts and pages to increase your chances of making money.
  5. Generate Unique content using Profit Jackpot or WP-Simplicity:  It is often said in the world of WordPress blogs and Google SEO rankings that content is king. Not just any old content but truly unique content. If you simply import articles or videos from other sites or blogs you will not likely rank highly with the search engines, especially Google.   6.   10. Rinse and Repeat:  Be realistic, you will probably not make much money for a while! In same cases it may take months and even years, specially if you choose a very competitive niche. But, if you do it the right way, you will eventually start to see some earnings, which will increase steadily as the time passes on.

It will likely take you  a few hours to set up an autoblog (for the first few times). However, as you build more and more blogs, this time will decrease significantly. If you don’t have much time, plan on building one autoblog every day. After a month you will have 30 auto blogs. And, even if you earn $2 a day from each blog, that adds up to $60 a day. Don’t you think that’s worth 30 minutes a day? Of course, you don’t have to stop there, you can build more and more autoblogs. Test things out, try different affiliate products, try different monetization methods, try different niches and so on.

Autoblog profits: Scam or reality- a 90 day trial!

After an approximately five year hiatus away from Internet & Affiliate Marketing, I decided to start a self-hosted WordPress blog: “JustRW – Canada’s Un-Chef” . This was about 15 months ago now, and the purpose of the blog was to write about a subject near and dear to my heart: Food, principally cooking and dining out. A secondary purpose was to advertise and promote my book: “The Un-Cookbook, The Art of Cooking without Recipes“.

Since this was mainly ‘a labour of love’ rather than an attempt to generate income, it did not bother me at first, that Google Adsense, Clickbank and other advertising venues were only bringing a trickle of revenue. However, once the traffic had built to a level of 150-200 visitors per day, I began to realise that I was missing the boat. A foodie blog that is specific to a relatively small geographic area is probably not the best vehicle for making money from blogging, however, I was starting to see evidence that serious profits could be made from blogging using Niche Marketing techniques should be completely possible.

As I started doing some research, I came across a plethora of products offering me a turnkey autoblogging business with one or several autoblogs operating on auto-pilot and producing easy cash on an ongoing basis. My first impulse was to disbelieve all the hype, but I was nevertheless intrigued by the notion that it was possible to build a meaningful, professional-looking blog or web site filled entirely with automated content. I figured that since I have been operating a couple of WordPress blogs for over a year, I had a good enough background to be able to sort the chaff from the wheat. My biggest fear was that as these autoblogs become more and more prevalent especially as some companies are recommending that each new member set up from 25 to several hundred sites each, that the market would soon become saturated.

The further I looked, the more I realised that the majority of the new  would-be autoblogging emperors were destined to failure. Let’s face it: for any given market niche, there can only be a single #1 spot in each search engine. My own blog stats show me that Google traffic outranks its closest competitor by a factor of 75:1. To get any appreciable traffic from an organic search engine listing, you must be in the top 5 spots and the #1 spot apparently gets more than 50 of the search visitors. So, no matter how great your autoblog looks and how great your content is, without a considerable amount of additional promotion, backlinks, SEO optimization, social bookmarking, article marketing etc. you are not likely to be ranking highly in your chosen niche.

So here’s what I decided to do: I purchased a package for just under $500 that would supply me with 15 ready made, fully functioning autoblogs in market niches of my choice. They would be WordPress based and pre-monetized with Clickbank affiliate and Google Adsense advertising. In theory, once they are handed over to me, I should need to do nothing but leave them alone and collect my cash from Google Adsense and Clickbank.

I have decided that I will run 2 control groups: Firstly, I will take five of the autoblogging sites and tweak them by adding additional plugins to improve their income potential. I will also promote them through backlinks, social bookmarking and article marketing. I will build an additional 10 sites from scratch, taking everything that I have learned and continue to learn and NOT use autoblog content. I will generate or glean all content myself to make sure that it is high quality, relevant to my niche and totally unique.

Over the next 90 days, I will fully document my trials and tribulations here on this site and you can follow along and share in my triumphs and defeats. At the end, we will both know whether building successful autoblogs is a myth or reality and how much time, effort and money one would need to build a functional, profitable autoblogging business.

Niche Marketing Success using WordPress, Adsense and Clickbank

Autoblogging has become a huge trend these days with many affiliate marketing gurus offering so-called push-button systems supposed to make you piles of money overnight using WordPress blogs, Google Adsense and Clickbank. Is it possible to make money blogging using niche marketing techniques? Of course it is. Every guru’s system almost certainly worked for them. The problem comes when several thousand people try to make money using the same system at the same time.

I’ve got a suggestion here that is going to save you time and money and prevent the almost certain disappointment that will come when you purchase one of these Instant Profit Machines. Don’t fall for them! Over the next few posts, we are going to suggest some excellent tools that you can use to ensure the success of your online marketing efforts. Many of them will be free, while some will have a moderate fee attached to them.

The true key to success is NOT to do what everybody else is doing. By the time you get wrapped up in the latest wonder-system, thousands of others have also done the same thing and the market is flooded with swarms of bloggers and affiliate marketers all chasing the same finite piece of the pie. The best path to making money blogging with WordPress, Google Adsense and Clickbank is to make your own pie!

Success in Niche Marketing is not complicated but first you must find your own niche or better still, a few of them! Pick a few topics that interest you and in which you have at least some basic knowledge. By selecting a niche this way, you can learn as you earn and will be sure to be working in an area that interests you. One way to produce unique content that will make search engines love you is to either write it yourself (hard), review others work (easier) or produce content that is a compilation/precis of existing content(easiest). All of these methods are FREE, ethical and so-called ‘white-hat’. Google or other search engines will rank your content as unique and original. One page of original, targeted, keyword-rich content is worth 20 pages of copied or re-hashed material.

If you want to make money with a WordPress blog you will need a few things:
1. A hosting account
2. At least one domain name
3. A WordPress Blog
4. A Google Adsense Account
6. A Clickbank Account

The first couple of items are going to cost you a few pennies but the last 3 are all available free. In our next instalment, we will show you where to get the first two and how to set them up
